Our Story
‍Built by Language Lovers,
Shaped by Experience

Fluent was founded by polyglots Willy Hayman and Jessica Tulchin, who each speak 7–8 languages and understand firsthand what it truly takes to learn one. After years of learning and teaching languages around the world, they built Fluent as the language school they always wished existed- immersive, cultural, and genuinely enjoyable.

What started as a small initiative quickly grew into an international community of over 17,000 learners and teachers who enjoy the magic of real connection, and the experience of becoming truly fluent.

Today, Fluent works with individuals and organizations worldwide, helping thousands of people communicate more confidently, connect across cultures, and feel more at home in new languages.

The truth is, language is more than vocabulary lists and grammar rules. It’s people, culture, and connection. That’s why we created Fluent: a place where language isn’t just studied, but lived through real experiences and interaction with native speakers.

But this goes beyond language learning.

We believe languages have the power to break down stereotypes and bridge social and cultural divides. By helping people truly understand one another, language becomes a tool for empathy and inclusion- and that’s the deeper reason Fluent exists.
